Southern Utah PostMormon Lecture series October 2nd -“The Mormon Rebellion

Posted by skeptic on September 22, 2011
Our annual  Fall/Winter Lecture series resumes in October.
Past director of the Utah State Historical Society Dr. Mel Smith will review of the book "The Mormon Rebellion" by David L. Bigler and Will Bagley. Historian Mel Smith is well know for his objective and knowledgeable presentations and just happens to be the a direct descendent of Joseph Smith's  younger brother Samuel Smith. Needless to say, Mormon apologists appear not happy Biglers and Bagley's research.
Should be educational and very interesting.
The presentation will be Sunday, October 2nd, 2 PM at the new Lexington Hotel, 850 So. Bluff Street St. George, Utah.
Refreshments will be served, come and meet like minded Postmo's.

The Southern Utah PostMormon Association will host Devery Scott Anderson to lecture on his research

Posted by skeptic on April 10, 2011
Devery Anderson's research is significant in light of LDS scripture and teachings of Church leaders:

The Prophet Joseph Smith taught: “Ordinances instituted in the heavens before the foundation of the world, in the priesthood, for the salvation of men, are not to be altered or changed. All must be saved on the same principles.” Dennis B. Neuenschwander, “Ordinances and Covenants,” Ensign, Aug. 2001, 20 Alma 41:8 Now, the decrees of God are unalterable; therefore, the way is prepared that whosoever will may walk therein and be saved.

Devery Scott Anderson has brought together a comprehensive collection of official documents on temple ceremonies, limited only by what would be inappropriate to discuss publicly. The documents include rulings by the First Presidency on changes to the ceremonies, letters to temple and stake presidents and bishops reminding them of temple policies, minutes of Quorum of the Twelve meetings, excerpts from sermons and Church publications, and commentary by apostles and temple presidents in diaries, letters, oral histories, and temple scrapbooks.

Devery Anderson will lecture May 1st, 2 PM at the New Lexington Hotel 850 S. Bluff St. St. George Utah.

Refreshments will be provided. For further information contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

NOTE: THIS LECTURE WILL BE THE LAST OF OUR WINTER/SPRING SERIES. WE WILL TAKE OUR NORMAL BREAK FOR THE SUMMER AND START BACK UP IN OCTOBER.
