Switzerland Post-Mormons

Leprechauns, Canadians, and books!!!

The Swiss post-mo team was summoned into party-mode this week by a visit from an American post-mo on a business trip:

Now, Switzerland is, like, one big small town. So -- during our last get-together (a few months ago) -- one of our number preferred not to be loudly associated with the word "Mormon" in a restaurant where somebody might know somebody or might know somebody's boss, etc.  Thus, we went with the code-word "Leprechaun."

(Counter-intuitively, perhaps, this was deemed less embarrassing.)

And, let me tell you -- as funny as it is to swap stories about Mormonism, imagine the conversation (after a few glasses of wine) with the word "Mormon" replaced throughout by "Leprechaun" (including Leprechaun-appropriate translations for ward, mission, temple, etc.).

It was so much fun that we decided that we also needed a code-word for "gay", and came up with "Canadian."  We had some "Canadian fur-traders" at our party that day, and they suggested that their male Canadian counterparts should be known as "Mounties".  Naturally, the same brow-level of hilarity prevailed at this month's outing as well.

In other news, the full-color edition of ExMormon is now available from the Mormon Alumni Association:

If your post-mo chapter is interested in discussing the book (comparing to your own experiences in-and-after Morm- er - Leprechaunism), I can get you review copies.  Just write to me at my email address on this page. :D
