1. Question: How do I post on this site?

Answer: First you must register. You do that by clicking the Register link in the black bar at the top of this page, then follow the instructions. Once you've done that you will receive a confirmation email that you must respond to as directed in the email. Once you've responded to the email you must login by clicking the Login link, also in the black bar above. Once logged in you will see click-able buttons on the Community Discussion Forum pages and elsewhere on the site that you use for posting on the site.

2. Question: I'm curious - is "hits" the best way to gauge the popularity of the site? Is there anything that might be misleading about that number?

Answer: Both the number of hits and number of visitsare important because they each show different things. The number of hits shows how many times someone has opened or refreshed a page on this website. Since most places, like RfM, use hits as the number they present to the public, I generally use hits as well. That way we're comparing apples to apples.

Number of visits means how many time someone comes to the website. If someone logs in first thing in the morning, stays logged in all day, posts a grundle of posts in the forum, posts another grundle of comments, refreshes pages all day long, then logs out or turns off his computer at the end of the day, all that counts as just one visit. As of June 21st we were averaging around 7,000 such visits per day.

In short, visits tell us something about how many times people come to the site, then leave. Hits tells us how much people click around on the site when they're here.

3. Question: Were did the photos on the home page come from? Are they pictures of real post-Mormons?

Answer:The pictures on the home page are stock photography, obtained from a vendor of stock photography. At this time PostMormon.org doesn't have the resources to produce quality photos of real post-Mormons, and it's not easy finding post-Mormons who are willing to have their faces plastered on a website or billboard for former Mormons. We do however feel that the photos used are a reasonably good representation of the average post-Mormon individual, family, couple, etc. Over time, and one by one, we hope to substitute the stock photos with real post-Mormons.
