Why Is There Sometimes Anger Here?
Visitors to Post-Mormon.org are sometimes disturbed by periodic expressions of anger and bitterness by contributors to this site. It is important to consider that when a person comes to the realization that the Church no longer represents a body of "truth" for them personally, the resulting loss of their spiritual roots can be traumatic. Not only does it represent the destruction of their faith, but it often comes with the loss of friends and family relationships, the inability to participate in weddings and other family/cultural traditions, and an overall sense of separateness from the community to which they once belonged. This loss is comparable in magnitude to the death of a loved one, and the resultant emotions that are expressed are mirrored by the stages of grief, for indeed, it is grieving that you often witness here.
Anger is commonly considered one of the stages of grief. To support healthy healing, Post-Mormon.org endeavors to provide a safe, supportive environment to journey through all the grief stages, including the anger stage.
