I wrote a reply to what silverfox posted in the "Stages of cult recovery "recovery from cults" by luna. See post 49 for silverfox's comment and my response. And if possible can you please the post in the other thread before you make a comment.

I think that the mission statement needs to better reflect the reasons why people are posting or why they are here. I give my reasons in my reply to silverfox.

I would appreciate your comments on this matter since I think that it is important. But again can you post your comments here on this thread. I am not talented enough to past and move things around.

I just think that it is time to re-reflect about the mission statement. I know that for myself this mission statement was one of the reasons why I joined this forum. The statement gave a lot of leg-room for people and it didn't seem narrow-minded; in fact, I thought that it was very open-minded.

But is the statement too open minded or too vague?

The mission statement left open the possiblity to discover other meanings about life and I loved its philosophy. I had hoped to find it the forums and in some ways I have but I am not certain that it now pretains to the forum if read silverfox correctly.

I don't think that I am the only one who is now questioning the statement. I believe that Fred has also.

Any comments about the statement and whether or not the forum reflects the statement? And please no personal negative comments about why_me. I just would like to discuss the mission statement.

Again, if you post, can you post your comments in this thread. It would be good to read silverfox's post and my response to it if possible.

It would help to know where you are coming from if you could please tell us WHY you come to this forum? What does it offer you? What kind of support are you looking for? Do you even need support? Maybe you need nothing from the board and just want to give..........what? I have asked several times but have never received a clear answer.

I have given you an answer. I do remember it. I think that I gave you the answer that time when you were ranting and raving about something that I wrote.

Eventually we made up after you read my answer to your question. I can't find it now. I have revealed quite a lot about myself in this forum but unfortunatly it has been overlooked because of judgemental behavior.

However, if you wish to see where you asked once before why I am here in not very polite terms in a hijack of a thread go to "Desperate in need of a community" thread by alive. Your post is post#32.

However, flotsom did state a problem below your post that I have tried to correct in my paragraph structure. It helped for a little while to keep the wolves at bay.

But does the mission statement need to be changed?

Why_me, if you don't like the statement on the homepage, or anything else about PostMormon.org, then you should take it up with the management privately. We are a non-profit organization with a board of directors and staff that is responsible for maintaining PostMormon.org and for making changes to what we do and what our purpose is. We have nothing to hide. As a board we feel good about what we've set up and how we've defined our purpose. We will always be open to suggestions, but in order to maintain a semblance of order and avoid unnecessary contention, if you or anyone else doesn't like something about PostMormon.org then take it up with me privately, I'll present your concerns to the board of directors at our next meeting and we will consider your recommendations. The forum is not the place or you or anyone else to lobby for change.

Thank you, Jeff. Agreed. Why_me, decisions are made as a group. It's not just Jeff or me or Free Thinker.
