On my drive in to work I was listening to the National Public Radio show, "Day to Day" and they had a piece about ex-mormons.

Here is the link to the story on the NPR web site. As of this writing (10 am PST), there is only this blurb.....
"Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who leave the faith are often shunned by tight-knit, family-focused Mormon communities. But these defectors don't always remain isolated -- many are joining together to form their own communities. Chana Joffe-Walt reports."

Check back later for the full story...
"Audio for this story will be available at approx. 3:00 p.m. ET".

Wednesday evening on "Fresh Air," also on NPR, there was an interview with Walter Kirn.
"Editor and writer Walter Kirn's latest novel, Mission to America, is about a fictional quasi-religious group, the Aboriginal Fulfilled Apostles, seeking new converts to help them survive. The topic is one Kirn has experience with: When he was 12, Kirn's family became Mormons."

The audio for this one is there now. Click on "Listen".

Thanks for the post.

I listened with great interest. It seems that post-mormonism is reaching a tipping point. This is good of course.

There needs to be simply a manifest realization by any active member who wants to exit the church, that they will have a safety net to fall into as they are discarded by friends and family. That they will have a resource to turn to, to help ease the transition into normal life. Almost a rebirth so to speak.

If there is a Jesus Christ. If he is the son of god and was revealed accurately in the new testament, then this is a being that would be very comfortable at a post-mormon gathering. With the outcasts. Those who had been shunned by the more legalistic pharasitic officials.
