I enjoyed the podcast about freemasonary and the mormon temple. It was very enlightening. Thanks for the site.
I take it your name is John?

I listened to most of the podcast but had to stop and get ready for work. I don't have time to write much so I'll use the comment below as a summary of the John Lynch's perspective (John was interviewed in the podcast). When speaking of the FARMS apologists he said, "Inasmuch as they are right they do a fabulous job. Inasmuch as they are wrong they do a pretty good job." It never ceases to amaze me the mental gymnastics some people will go through to squeeze "the Church is still true" out of facts that clearly say otherwise. Such is the modus operandi of the Mormon apologist.

Now jeff, you might be a little picky here.
I think that it is great that people are speaking out and giving their side of the story. Did you listen to the mason one? I thought that that podcast was interesting.
I don't think that the speaker was referring to what you are referring to. No one is perfect and really no one truly knows what will happen upon death. It is all up in the air in some sort of way.
But maybe this is what makes life interesting...no one really knows anything about it all but there is hope in perceived correctness.

I have read your posts over at fair.
You have great interviews. Your interview with the mason was terrific. I would also like to listen to the 'anti' guy too. Maybe later. Take care and see you at the fair site!
You are doing a wonderful job and a needed one at that.

Thanks for the good feedback. I appreciate the support.
Jeff--I'd love to interview you or someone else from post-mormon at some point, if interested. So far I've interviewed an ex-mormon, a FAIR apologist, and soon I will be doing a "New Order Mormon"....so if you want to throw your perspective in, we'd love to have it.
Anyway, thanks again for allowing me to share....

John,
I'm very willing to be interviewed. There are others who might be willing to be interviewed too; I'm thinking guys like Peter_Mary or bigeddy would be way better and more interesting to interview than me. Are you okay with interviewing people who need to do so anonymously? It's unfortunate that anonymity is required by some but the backlash from the Mormon community against people who leave the church is very real. I happen to be in a situation where being public isn't such an issue.

You seem to be pretty good at the mental gymnastics too why me. Wasn't that a double half twist with a 180 turn followed by a backward flip that you just did? :duh

Well...eh...my neck is still hurting from the flips but now I am okay. It can be difficult to do the gymnastic thing but I am trying...do you have anything for sore muscles? The ol' body is not what it used to be. And the brain is a tad slow these days.
Oh wait here is another flip  .....ops I just flopped.

I'm totally cool w/ anonymity. When I interviewed "Hyrum" from thechurchisnottrue.com we did it in a way to protect his privacy....so that wouldn't be a problem (as long as the person isn't worried about someone recognizing their voice).
I don't have voice modulation software. :)

I dont want to sound ignorant etc. I have given this a lot of thought.
What I see emerging is a cultural mormonism that will eventually be the mainstream of the mormon church. The fundies will be the minority. It will probably take about 75 to 100 years .
To me it is just a church. I dont like the culture. I find it very Mayberryish. It is not the culture I was raised in, and I find it dull and colorless.
Does it have it's redemptive characteristics? Of course, as all faiths do. But I just get the feeling inside that if I consent to this culture in any way, I butress the things that so many of the leaders of this church have done, and continue to do, that I find manifestly destructive to the human soul.
No. I am going to be a voice raised that this church can only remain helpful if it comes absolutely clean on it's history. If it pulls these religious kings down off their thrones, and stops trying to induce so much self loathing, second guessing, and fear based living.
I do not find the mormon culture helpful or redemptive to the society as whole. I would be most comfortable if it was dismantled completetly. I dont give a hoot in hell about it.
