I wish there was more info regarding the reasons why the city council wants to do this.

(KSL News) -- A battle is brewing between South Salt Lake bar owners and the city council.

Owners say the council is considering a number of changes, including limiting the number of taverns, and closing them on Sundays, a busy business day.

Jack Stearns, Owner, Henry's Inn: “In other words if they break me by being closed on Sundays, might as well lock the doors, and walk out the door. That’s all I can do.”

The council will decide the issue in two weeks.

This is such a clear case of separation of church and state, or establishment of religion to use constitutional terms. There is no other standard for 1) Sunday being any different from Saturday, and 2) alcohol comsumption.

on alcohol comsumption laws, one can argue harm to society... but on Sunday? Alcohol does not harm society any more on Sunday than it does on Saturday... If anything one could argue it harms society more to have people drinking on weekdays, since most people work on these days...
