Just in time for Christmas:

WHITE: White represents purity; the Savior's atoning sacrifice; the Spirit of the Lord; the heavenly Kingdom of God; peace; and God's pure love for all his children.

BLUE: The color blue represents priesthood; the Gospel of Christ; enduring faith; the firmament (blue sky), which should remind us to follow all of God's commandments and ordinances; the earthly Kingdom of God; and our relationship with and love for the Lord.

TWELVE: The 12 stripes (alternating blue and white) represent perfection; the 12 tribes of Israel; and the 12 properly ordained apostles of the Lord through all ages of time.

LARGE STAR: The large star in the center of the circling stars represents the Savior, Jesus Christ; and God's Pure Love.

STARS: The 12 circling stars represent Perfection; the gathering of the 12 tribes of Israel for the Savior's return; the 12 apostles and prophets of the Lord; and all people who identify, understand, and follow the Savior ('Come unto Christ').

Funny how even in flag making JS cannot come up with a truly unique piece of work! But then most flags look alike.

You know I actually find this a bit frightening.

I think I'll go get one and burn it. I've always wondered what it would be like to burn a flag. (growing up in the 60s/70s and all)

I didn't even know the church had a flag.

I find it striking how that flag looks exactly like a flag you'd see at the entrance to some fancy schmancy condo in South Florida. I used to live in Boca Raton, which we called New Jersalem because of the disproportionate number of Jews who lived there. Er, not that there's anything wrong with that (being Jewish). I just think it's funny how mormons are just wannabe Jews. It really seems that way when you think about how little Christ and His life is emphasized in the LDS church.

Carry on...

Wow, how original! VERY clever change of color and number of stars/stripes - nobody would ever recognize the source.

Maybe you could burn one on the corner by the conference center during the next GC. Maybe DH would have to respond and haul your butt off...wouldn't that be a hoot? :p

Not to mention the discussion it would generate at dinner that evening...after you were released, of course. ;)

Did you look at the website? I don't know which to be more horrified at: the absurd mormon-ness or the blatant commercialism.

You might note that at the bottom you can click a link that invites you to invest in the LDS flag business. Poor suckers who do!

I think this part is my favorite-especially the first sentence after the question, "The LDS Flag is a fulfillment of prophesy". And at the end of the site there is a list of scriptures where you can find the word "ensign". Sheeeesh. Talk about persuasion:

Why do we need an LDS Flag?
The LDS Flag is a fulfillment of prophesy. We know for certain that all of the revelations spoken by the mouths of the ancient and modern prophets must come to pass. So to “Lift up an Ensign to the world” both figuratively (the Book of Mormon and the restored gospel) and literally (the LDS Flag raised on Ensign Peak in 1847) are a fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophesy. We even sing about this fulfillment in Joel H. Johnson’s Hymn written in 1853: High on a Mountain Top… “A banner is unfurled; Ye nations now look up, it waves to all the world… For God remembers still, His promise made of old; That He on Zion’s Hill, truth’s standard would unfold…”

Hmmm.... using scripture to guilt money out of people.... where have I heard that before???
I can't remember...

Anyway, I bet if you did it right, you could make a bundle... maybe even up to, oh I don't know... 10% of a person's income (?) :D

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Man, No-Mo, you are on a roll today!

Now...let's see...what are some OTHER prophecies that we should set about to FORCE to come to pass? Seems like there was something about 2 missionaries lying dead in the streets of Jerusalem prior to the 2nd coming...any volunteers to fulfill that one? Where's that Cactus Jack when we need him? :p

And what about the sign of the Beast? Maybe we should do our part as apostates and tatoo 666 on our forheads and see if that doesn't speed things along just a bit.

Perhaps we could pool our collective resources and build that damn temple in Jackson county before the church gets around to it...beat 'em to their own punch.
