Hmm.. I realize that these things do happen (though I have never personally been aware of it) but I think it's unfair to blame the church for it. It's obviously not part of their teachings, and these people would still exist and do what they do whether or not they were mormon.

No one blames the church for it happening but the church CAN be blamed for how they handle these situations when they come to light.....by not staying in compliance with the law and reporting to the law enforcement officials, not taking action to avoid the perp from abusing again, treatment of victims, etc, etc, etc.

There are quite a few posts and threads from those who HAVE personally experienced or witnessed such atrocities within the church. I suggest you read about some of the experiences and maybe you will understand better why the church should carry some of the blame.
