Hinckley said. "It is a day of remembrance, a day of great rejoicing, a day for gratitude and thanksgiving, a day in which we acknowledge the moving hand of God in bringing to pass his eternal purposes in behalf of his sons and daughters of all generations."
He then told of his predecessor's difficulties in getting the shaft in place.
The church wanted an obelisk that was 38 1/2 feet high - one foot for every year of Smith's life. The only quarry with enough available stone was many miles away. It had to be transported to a mill to be shaped and polished, then moved by rail and wagon to the site.
"It took 22 horses to haul the load of 40 tons from the railroad terminal up the hill," Hinckley said.
It's creation and erection closely parallel Smith's description of his own life, Hinckley said.

OK, so this event is the big shebang, it can only happen once a century, people have poured into Sharon, VT--I know some even went there from Utah to see it all in person. The cameras are ready, the sheep have filled stake centers all over Utah and a few other places.

And because of a little snow (maybe) these people from Salt Lake City, a place that sees more than a little snow on a regular basis, have to turn around and go back??

I checked weatherchannel.com and it said the percipitation in Sharon yesterday was a whopping "0"! It was 38 degrees. (correction: the Sharon Post hour-by-hour weather from yesterday reports in one half-hour period (7 pm Sharon time) there was "light snow." The rest of the day it was reported as "cloudy" or "mist."

If there WAS snow it was just a sciff. Enough to change the plans and have to pre-tape Wrinkley Hinckley's remarks and keep him from driving out to the monument??? I THINK NOT!

Funny how no news reports say there was a big storm or that travel was stopped or anything. All they say is that there was "some snow."

Is this a little too reminiscent of the ETB days. Did they really not want people to see that their "prophet" was feeble, possibly couldn't stand, was sick or whatever? Or do you think they never went to Sharon in the first place and the set was re-created in SLC? It just doesn't add up to me.

We may see a Bensonesque Hinckly. He may take a long time to expire.

The boys will be busy filling in the gaps. Unfortunetely we will all be much more aware of it now and very little can be done to hide things.

One of the things I like most about sites like ours is that we will force accountability on the boys. We wont let them get away with anything now.

Look at Busmans book. He displays for all to see that JS translated the BoM with a Peep stone. Places like this forced that honesty.
