But if you’re struggling, dear Abby advises: “Why Worry”

There are only two things to worry about:
Either you are well or you are sick.
But if you are sick…
There are only two things to worry about.
Either you are well, or you will die.
If you get well, there’s nothing to worry about.
But if you die, there are only two things to worry about.
Either you go to heaven…or you go to hell.
If you go to heaven, there is nothing to worry about.
But if you go to hell…
You’ll be so busy shaking hands with friends…
You won’t have time to worry.

Nice little laundry list. I didn't see any golfing, tennis, or just plain old fun. Guess you gotta work that in somewhere eh?

Adam fell that men might be, and men are that they might have joy. :o

I think Joe would have liked this idea. He certainly had his share of girl toys. :cool:

Hi Luna;

A number of years ago we took in a foster child (she was quite a challenge) as I recall the social worker involved with the placement shared with us a shorter version as a list of things that can cause stress. I just added a few more to it. No wonder Utah has the highest use of anti-depressants.

OK. I was wondering if it was some official church release. I made a similar list once. I'll compare the two to make sure I didn't forget anything.

Luna;

Looks like you have some items listed that I missed. In compiling our lists we must have been thinking along the same lines. Its amazing an organization would dump all of these perfection demands on its followers. From getting the list I have from a social worker I got the impression the perfection work load has been causing a lot of problems for the saints.

Not too amazing... just run of the mill thought reform:

P.S. I would be interested in hearing more of the observations of this social worker.

I think it's funny that 3/4 down the list is "keep romance alive."

After all that? Who could?

My list:

1. Think for yourself.
2. Question Authority.
3. Realize that life is a compromise between doing what you want and what you have to do.
4. Realize also that you will get out of life whatever you put into it.
5. The only thing you can control or change is your attitude.

Right, and near the top of Luna's list was "wear your garments at all times."

After THAT, who could keep romance alive? I've SEEN those things (hell, I've WORN those things), and I'm here to tell ya, they just aren't helping the whole romance thing. Fredricks of Hollywood is not exactly working for the same market share as Beehive Industries...

I shared my list (via email) with an open minded TBM friend who is in the bishopric in a ward in California.

He wrote back and told me I forgot one… “Keep the faith”.

“Free Thinker” came really close he said “have faith”.

How did we miss that one? Must be one of the hazards of thinking for oneself.

Luna, re: your question about the social worker, he was TBM our meeting was about 8 years ago. I wish I had to opportunity to quiz him more in depth.

When my TBM wife went for her Temple Recommend interview I advised her to tell the bishop this question was none of his #@$% business and he was a pervert for asking.

She told me she didn’t think she could tell him that.
