A recent census found that one in 270 respondents - or 0.37% of the population - say they believe in "the force", an energy field that gives Jedi Knights like Luke Skywalker their power in the films.

This census result involves several factors that might be overlooked form outside Australia:
Voting is compulsory here
This is a very secular society
'Taking the piss' out of anything and everything is a national sport :eek:
So when this idea took hold, it really took hold. My son, in his early 20s, was amongst those who expressed their disgust with most religions by stating he was a Jedi.
'May the Force be with you' is a damned sight more healthy or less unhealthy than 'There is a law irrevocably decreed .........' in other words, 'The Force is outside you, and always feel guilty and inadequate that you ain't good enough'.
