Well, I just got word last night that my brother won't be going to BYU. Though easily smart enough to get into that school, he wants to play football in college more than anything. And BYU told him recently that they're not giving him a scholarship, which means he'll be looking elsewhere. He's got a number of good scholarship offers on the table, including some really good academic (read: liberal) schools. I'm happy for this, because my brother is just like I was at his age and I think that in a non-Utah environment, his intellect will flourish and he'll "see the light" and be a better person for it. Plus he'll get to kick some ass in the PAC-10 or something :D
But I can't tell him flat-out that I'm happy that he got turned down by the Cougars, cause that would be mean. Plus, I dont' want to "proselytize" my beliefs to him: I'm content with him making his own journey, and offering my help if he wants it. So for now I'm just going to keep my elation to myself (and share it with my PostMo friends, of course). ;)
