Anyone else catch Ray Naggin blaming Katrina on God's anger over our war on Iraq? And also claiming that God wants New Orleans to have a large African American population. Strange speech. Was he just trying to channel his inner preacher on MLK day?

This is a horrible attempt to exploit Dr. King's legacy. Why the hell would God care what color a city is? And if God was really so pissed about the war, why would he/she punish a group of impoverished people in a God-fearing state instead of sending a tsunami to engulf Capitol Hill? I despise comments like Mayor Nagin's almost as much as the shit coming out of Pat Robertson's mouth these days.

If it wasn't so stupid, it would be funny.

If Ray had a brain, he'd be dangerous.

What dillusional disorder raises a persons grandiosity to the point where they presume to not only know the mind of God, but to act as His/Her spokesperson?

He said he got the idea from a discussion with his minister.

What a dumbass. Seems to me that God really has it in for the elderly and children.

My favorite part was the chocolate quote, "This city will be a majority African American city. It's the way God wants it to be," said Mayor Nagin. "It's time for us to rebuild a New Orleans, the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans. And I don't care what people are saying in Uptown or wherever they are. This city will be chocolate at the end of the day."

Who else was hoping for strawberry or maybe caramel-pecan?

I mean, don't you think the choice of chocolate shows ridiculously poor judgment again? How is chocolate supposed to hold up in NOLA heat and humidity without getting all melty and messy? I don't see how a city made out of chocolate would hold up against a hurricane or even a tropical storm.

What?

:duh

Oh.

:o

What a maroon.

John Stewart recommended using Brittle. :D
I thought NOLA was Bourbon flavored? Still his response is no more ridiculous than the people whose speculation he was responding to who said NOLA would become dominated by whites when it is rebuilt. This concern has likely been further exacerbated by reports that the poorer communities will not be rebuilt due to future flooding risk.
