The owner of the Utah Jazz, Larry H. Miller has refused to show the (very good) gay themed film "Brokeback Mountain" in his theatres. He got VERY defensive when asked about it.
You can watch the clip here (scroll down to "Larry Miller Gets Physical" http://www.crooksandliars.com/
I suppose he's doing this because of his misguided mormon values. But it does seem that he shows all sorts of R-rated films with violence, sex, extra-marital sex even! But somehow a deep love between men is where he draws the line!
Also, I might point out that laboratory studies show that men who express the most homophobia are most likely to be sexually aroused by same-sex sexual imagery (AKA closet cases).
AND, in the clip, miller uses the term "twink", which is more of a gay insider term. Hmmmmm!

Who was that in reference to?
The funny thing is that by banning the movie LHM is causing even more people to go see it!

Yeah, if I were the Brokeback Mountain folk, I would be sending flowers to Mr. Miller with a big thank you note. That sort of publicity is hard to buy!
It does make the Utahns look especially backward when they aren't even doing this sort of thing in the bible belt. Sheesh.
BTW, I think "twink" was a prior comment made about sports opponents or something - watch the clip, it's sort of funny.

I can foresee the consequences. :duh
Leave two red-blooded young men together alone, and anything might happen, if you take the Breakback axample.
God forbid that idea take hold over at MTC!

Yeah, seems that Miller has stuck his foot in it. In attempting to take some kind of personal "stand," he's probably given the show more airtime than it would have if he'd just ignored it. Besides the hypocrasy issue (e.g., he doesn't mind taking people's money for beer sales at the Delta Center or for watching other morally degenerate movies), I think he's just playing for the home crowd. He may think that being seen by the Mormon folk as a stand up guy may actually generate more business for his car dealerships. Who knows.

Yeah, if by "stand up guy" you mean bigoted homphobic hypocrite, I think he's got it laced up!
