Hello all -- This is my first post here.

I have been posting on the Recovery from Mormonism board for a few months now (as Andy the Eminent) and have decided to start branching out in my search for community!

My family (me, wife and 3 children) formally resigned from the church November 1, and we are looking for community, support, and new friendships with those who share the experience of leaving Mormonism.

My wife and our 3 kids resigned form the church last week. I was a high councilman to the very end. My wife even served a mission on Temple square.
I am 37, my wife 36 and we have 3 boys 6, 4, and 1.
It has been hard this week, but I know it will be worth it.

I am in the Sacramento area too. I ama single mother really struggling, the Church is a big support for me but I am also very confused and would like to me new people etc.. in the are.

WhenI say struggling I am not just meaning financially but spiritually and need to have a deeper connection with God and the ~Word of the Lord. I struggle with spending hours in ~Church on sunday not feeling a spiritual benefit except for a few moments. I struggle with walking the path I see others walking comfortably and prospering. I am about to emabrk on a new journey into a new career in a new city and do not know but two people (three if I count the one I don't want to know) I need people to talk to about these things, the confusion about Church. ANd why I am going on andon I dont know. Sorry I will stop for now. :o

Welcome Ando, Joel and Mystic.

I hope you find acommunity here and your journey to recovery and a new structure and meaning is a little easier as a result of your visits here.

Many here have contributed to and gleaned from the Stages of Post-Mormonism Experience threads up in the Sticky threads at the top of the page. I invite you to engage in that process to enhance your clarity about your journey beyond MoInc.

http://www.postmormon.org/forum_vb/showthread.php?t=288

THat thread might suggest that that is a linear process, which most agree it is not. I have developed a MS Word diagram of that process, so pm me with your email address if you are interested in a copy, as I need to be able to attach to the email, which I cannot to a pm.

Joel (and Ando!), welcome to PostMo! We'd love to hear your stories, and you might find this is a great place for at least some of the support you are seeking. Many here share your same experiences, concerns, heartaches and victories, and would be happy to share with you, too!

Feel free to start a thread at any time and just talk about whatever you want to talk about! There are friends to be made here...

Mystic,

Welcome to PostMo! We'd love to hear from you, too! I find that sometimes I do my best thinking/figuring out when I'm writing, especially to a largely anonymous audience. I can really say what I think and feel, hit "submit", and it's off into cyberspace...and often released from my mind. There is healing in writing and talking, and I'd just really encourage you to spend as much time talking and saying what you need to say.

There are all manner of folks here, many whom share your journey; single moms, struggling to figure out how to make it all work; folks who yearn for a spiritiual/Christian community but that can't find it in the context of Mormonism; living alone in a world that used to be filled with people who at LEAST share your world-view; trying to make connections with others where you used to rely almost solely on the Church to help you do that... Lot's of folks here who feel the same way. I hope you find a comfortable spot here for as long as it makes sense to be here...

Hi all you folks from Sacramento! I served a mission in Sacramento in 1985-86, specifically in Citrus Heights, and North Highlands. I am glad to hear you folks are finding you way out. Coincidentally, I hope I was not the reason you are in! If I was, let me help you out by confirming what others have said, and that is that this forum can give you a place to share your feelings, concerns and worries. We have been through much of what you have been experiencing. Good luck in you travels away from the church and to something much better. Welcome to freedom and the truth.

Welcome Mystic614!
Feel free to "go on and on" all you need or want to. :)

Ando_73 and Joelvaughn's posts are from Dec.2004, so I don't think they qualify as newbies anymore!
But hey, welcome anyway, oldbies!
