The entrance to Rock Canyon is about 1/4 mile directly East of the Provo Temple. It's a beautiful, easy hike. There are some petroglyphs and Big Horn sheep up this canyon. The entire hike is 1/2 mile up, 1/2 mile back. If you want to have lunch there is a great little gazebo area at the end of the hike.
Ulterior motive for this hike: I have three little girls ranging in age up to 12 years. I am SICK of them not having friends they can play with that DON'T want to preach to them. I want my kids to grow up with good, honest friends from good families that don't give a damn about religion. AND I know I am not the only parent here that has the same concern for their children.
So if you have kids that are feeling left out in this nearly all-Mormon community then please come with us on the hike and let's all get aquainted.
Side note: I want this to be a regular thing. I want to find the parents who have similar concerns for their children and who are willing, with me, to do something about it. Utah is too great a place to just hand it over to the Mormons.

Dang, but this sounds like fun! Wish we lived closer, I've got an 11 year old daughter who would no doubt love hanging out with yours!
It's an excellent ulterior motive, by the way... ;)

WOW,
This really sounds fun! The weather is supposed to be pretty nice. We’re having a beautiful day in Southern Utah today. Hope those youngsters find some good friends and you have a good turn out.

So how was it? Hopefully it was a nice day and people were able to participate.

I am so sorry we didn't make it. DH had to work all day (after our early morning trip to Star Bucks) and DD had a sprained ankle. Since I can't hike, we decided to pass this time, but plan something again and we will try to make it.
