I figure optical illusions are about as close as we can get to a discussion on halluciangenic effects. ;)

Okay, I'll play along
Mormon Optical Illusions
Wealth = Righteousness
Examples: Celestial Room, Conference Center
Tattoos, 2+ piercings, flip-flops, pant suits = unrighteous
Clean shaven = Righteous unless you were BY
Increase in temple building = Church growth
Dark skin = curse for wickedness
others?

Lunathe best protection against drug abuse is education , how can people be educated when all discussion is banned , its really stupid .
perhaps its simalar to the tscc banning nudity and making sexuality a taboo subject to discuss openly , what they really did was create depravity and sexual mal adjustment , likewise , trying to control drug abuse by having non discussion bans will leave parents with children on drugs at a loss ,
interesting topics of discussion would be
why do people take drugs in the first place
what are the long term medical effects
why do parents of teens on drugs quickly find themselves in a hopeless position '
why does nothing they say seem to matter anymore , why does shouting and anger push teens further into the drug world , as well as older people i might add ,
why are drugs such a powerful influence in the world we live in ,
actually the thing that is most destroying the mormon church is drug and alcohol abuse , i often vented in the hopless leadership meetings , why is there no drug and alcohol redemption programmes , it seems like the leadership is totaly out of contact with the needs of its own comunity , missionary work , missionary work and more missionary work , no other topics allowed , man that pissed me off so much , come on post mo , get a life ,open discussion and dialoge are healthy , its the job if moderators to moderate properly , not give in to tantrums or somebodys personal vendetta because there own thread got squashed

Yes, you have an excellent point and I agree with you, but.
This is not a drug education web site. There are hundreds of those out there.
This is a Post Mormon web site. We're supposed to be helping each other recover from cult brainwashing, not sharing drug stories. There's a time and place for everything and the Powers That Be did not want to take certain risks so the decision was made to make one topic off limits. We're just going to have to live with that.

All discussion was not banned. What we did not want was debates on why drug use should be made legal or how illegal recreational drug use is good for emotional recovery or members relating their experimental trips on the board. We also did not want the board to become focused on a discussion of drug use rather than mormon issues. People can be educated about drug use at websites dedicated to that purpose. That is not the purpose of this website.
perhaps its simalar to the tscc banning nudity and making sexuality a taboo subject to discuss openly , what they really did was create depravity and sexual mal adjustment , likewise , trying to control drug abuse by having non discussion bans will leave parents with children on drugs at a loss ,
There are plenty of websites out there that deal with this topic. That is not the mission of this website. We are here to discuss recovering from the Mormon church which includes exploring issues of spirituality and consciousness.

If you want to discuss those issues create Puffs drug discussion group website and have a ball!
actually the thing that is most destroying the mormon church is drug and alcohol abuse ,
Call for references! On what are you basing this last statement? I have never heard anyone express such a statement before.
i often vented in the hopless leadership meetings , why is there no drug and alcohol redemption programmes ,
Its called the WoW. Not sure what you mean by that last statement? Do you want the church to start its own 12 step program? But I thought you were pro drugs?
it seems like the leadership is totaly out of contact with the needs of its own comunity , missionary work , missionary work and more missionary work , no other topics allowed , man that pissed me off so much , come on post mo , get a life ,open discussion and dialoge are healthy , its the job if moderators to moderate properly , not give in to tantrums or somebodys personal vendetta because there own thread got squashed
It seems clear that this is a touchy subject and that people on the board have trouble agreeing about what is appropriate. I thought the moderators made it clear in the revised policy statement what we were concerned about, but it seems that it remains a sore spot with confusion about the issue. So this thread should probably be closed as well. The trippy picture really had nothing to do with the purpose of the board, I just thought it was cool.

I base my statement that drugs is a major problem for young mormons on what i see going on around me , if its not a problem why are you scared of the topic , lets be honest , drug discussion is banned cause someone got all shitty about darksliders thread getting cut and made a big stink about it , if i remember rightly , the discussion we were having was the possibilities of psilocybin being a cure for cluster headaches .
WHY SHOULD THAT OFFEND ANYBODY
you should re examine your own honest judgement and question why you really deleted that thread .
no i am not pro drugs , but i believe that herbs have healing in them , something quite different
this problem is not about drugs or discussing them openly , its about unfairly victimising a topic above all others .
its autocratic behaviour at its worsed and i feel offended being told to go to another website when i was doing nothing wrong ,
the problem is that you have moved the forum from open free speech to autocratic control behaviour , deleting threads for no good reason and in a very bad way imitating the control behaviour of the mormon church .
On a earlier thread i spoke to jeff ricks about christian moralism still being a major part of peoples lives even when they reject the idea of a christian god , whats happening here is good evidence of it , why is it ok to talk about homosexuality , polyamorism , swingers , masturbation and every other topic under sun , and then you go and delete a thread on the medical properties of psilocybin , i still say to you , this is really stupid and is a product of twisted thinking

Sex, homosexuality, swingers, and masterbation are not illegal, and there is mininal risk of legal action and culpability in a court of law for those that run the board for allowing indepth discussion of those topics.
Polygamy is a little different, as it has EXTREMELY strong ties to the mormon religion and it's history, much more so than drugs.
Psilocybin is illegal AND criminalized in the US, where this board originates, so it should be understandable that the moderators are more cautious about this topic than others, especially with case history of site owners being the victims of frivilous lawsuits from angered parents.

We don't want any posts that promote illegal activities.its not illegal to talk about the medical properties of psilocybin and as you stated it has just been reinstated as a drug being studied by medical authorities , the discussion on a previous thread was about polyamorism , not poligamy and i found that thread very interesting .

My powers and knowledge are still limited with respect to what I can and can't do as a moderator. Perhaps someone with greater light and knowledge than myself with respect to the ways of the mysterious pomo software can assist you in your quest.
As for the other topic, I admit I thought it was ok, but it seems to remain a sensitive topic and so it seems best to keep it banned. RfM bans posts on political topics and talking about politics isn't illegal either. Perhaps we can revist the topic at somepoint but for now it seems best to tape up the can.

No. I remember hearing it from friends in my pre-mormon days. I didn't believe them at first but I think the "Jackie Papers" thing did it for me. I mean, how many people are named "Papers"? And what a coincidence it was in the song...
Oh yeah, and I actually SAW the dragon (with my spiritual eyes) ;)
