View Full Version : Inconsistencies around skin colour

It struck me over recent days how inconsistent MoInc is and has been around skin colour.

Negroes were believed to carry the curse of Cain, which precluded those thus cursed until an undocumented 'revelation' that the MoPriesthood was now available.

American Indians were believed to have been cursed with a similar (though not as dark) colouring of their skin. This latter group were believed to have been originally Jews, so had turned away from 'the Truth'.

(How do you reckon such a cursing went?

I, the Lord, curse you for your iniquity and turning away from my message, hereby cursing you with a 60% tint.

Next please.

I, the Lord, curse you for your iniquity and turning away from my message, but not as severely as your predecessor here. I hereby curse you with a 45% tint.

Next please.

Oh, your people will eventually settle in a land that will become called Nigeria, and you are really bad-arsed bastards. You get the 95% tint!

Step into your scriptures. Bring them alive through meditation and imagine the Lord going about his Godly calling.)

The latter group were not precluded from God's Blessing, provided they saw the error of their ways and converted to the Gospel. One of the benefits of such an acceptance was that their skin would magically get 'white and delightsome', some sort of heavenly reworking of their skin pigmentation.

Now, given that both groups were argued to have received this curse at God's hand, how come one group gets the permanent treatment and the other only got the once over lightly? One group got excluded from the Priesthood for 6,000 years, if you use the fundy timescale.

When the revelation came concerning the Priesthood and those descended from Cain, they missed out on the whiter than white washing powder offer! How come? Was the Lord or MoInc fresh out of the Magic (Ethnic Cleansing) Washing Powder?

What was the deal? Am I (like the Lone Ranger over on the joke thread) reading too much into this or have those of African descent been given a bum deal?

PS: The really bitter, twisted and sick part of me wonders how different the Mormon position might have been if JS had hankered after some 'dark flesh' and we had a few JS descendents of darker skin colouring, who were putting up their hand for the genetically inherited leadership of the Church! Can you imagine a dark skinned, JS lookalike with a broader nose and an afro? The Bensons would just have to had a picture of him over the mantlepiece!

PPS: It struck me as I edited the above. Did Mormons invent ethnic cleansing??? ;) :duh

If God had really wanted to curse Cain's supposed African dwelling descendants, as well as those mythological equitorial dwelling Lamanites, he would have given them extremely fair skin so that they would be in constant pain from sunburns!

I think it all has to do with tithing. Those who haven't paid their tithing got darker skin. I've noticed that, since I've left tscc, and especially as summer progresses, that my skin is darkening. Proof that I am being cursed for not paying my tithing.

Trouble is, I kinda like it :neener:
