Celebrating one year anniversary of non-member status today!! :)
What a year it has been! In case you are wondering I would do it all over again. Leaving mormonism was a very good decision. It has not been easy but nothing in this arena ever is.
I just wanted to stop by and thank you all for your support last year. It was so helpful to converse with you and get your points of veiw.
I stop by from time to time to catch up and see what you are up to. I hope that is ok with you even if I stay silent. :duck: Cool new emoticons!!!
Someday there will be many, many more post-mormons I think. The church is in a pretty unenviable position from my point of veiw. The history is a disaster. Joseph Smith, if looked at in entirety, is a troubling figure. May he rot in heaven! ;)
Thank you again. From my heart!

Hi FT,
Great to hear you are well, travelling well, and considerate enough to come back and check in periodically.
We recently had some discussion on rituals to help exit, ones that communicate to a very deep level. It came out of some discussion around liminal space, which I think you would have enjoyed.
Any ideas on that as you pass through? (Who me, trying to leg-rope you? :o )
Best regards
Daryl
PS: I am not the lone Australian here anymore. Colin, who lives round here and I know, has become active recently.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone.
Yes things are going well. I have made some radical changes in my business that will have very good long lasting benefits. I find it interesting that I made these changes after exit from the church as I had contemplated them for years. Not sure how to interpret that.
Thanks mammajama for the sweet jesture.
Thanks for all your replies. I truly appreciate it .

Still up to your old tricks I see Daryl! ;) As I untangle the rope from my ankles.
I was so elated to be able to go to a Starbucks on Sunday morning and read the paper while enjoying a here to fore forbidden substance that that became a very reassuring ritual. I wanted to be swimming in the opposite direction from mormonism and that to me fit the bill.
In addition I devoured new works of philosophy and religious commentary. I was free to explore and that was fabulous. I gleaned a great deal of strength from that reading. I continue that today. Especially books from authors like Collin McGee. Soft spoken and extremely intelligent authors who can make their case with reason and intellect. Any thoughts?
Well you asked. Did you expect brevity? :)
Ok Daryl before I go I just have to add this JS emoticon. :lftl: Ha !! Man is that perfect or what?

Hi FT... I am the other aussie Daryl referred to. It is so great to read what you have said and it is not hard to feel and relate to the liberation in your life, and the freedom of thought and expression you have found. I dont know your history, but I suspect like many of us you had a very painful lead up to your exit from the Church.
It is fantastic to hear the place you in now. Congratulations on your "1 year"!

Hey man! HUGE CONGRATS on 1 year down. :D
It's great to hear from you. Glad things are going well. Congrats on the restructuring of both your spiritual perspective and your business!
See...leaving the church didn't ruin your life! :neener:
(but you're probably still going to hell for that bottle of wine)

Might I also offer my congratulations on the 1-year mark. That really is a great achievement. May the next year be as healing as this past one.
And your story about the coffee on Sunday morning brought back all kinds of good memories for me too. Coffee was the first "forbidden" substance I tried, and I still remember the night I first tried the stuff. It was also the first time I willingly went out without my magic underwear since going through the temple. I hated the coffee, but I relished the experience. I remember quoting a lyric from U2 in my sketchbook on that occasion: "Sweet the sin, bitter the taste in my mouth."
Isn't that the way it often is when leaving MoInc? But I digress, again, congratulations, FT.

Good on ya mate! Nice to make your aqauintence. I would suggest you trying to keep Daryl in line but that would be futile. ;)
Zilla and Nate
What could make a trip to hell more worth it than a nice bottle of wine Nate. I hope wife and baby are well, healthy and happy.
Zilla, I just decided to stop being afraid of liberal thought. Fear kept me from delving in. In some ways I think I am very liberal. Happiness to you and the pooches. Hope your garden is growing well Miss Contrary!!! ;)
Jeff
The site looks great!! Thank you for the well wishes. Hope you and children are well.

And to finish that songs next line.. " I see seven towers but I only see ONE WAY OUT..." !!
I will be stopping by again soon. Thanks so much for your wishes etc. It means a lot to me.

Personally, I think you've been a closet liberal all this time, but have been living under layers of denial. Which is understandable, you have to peel off one layer of brainwashing at a time. We can't "fix" you overnight. ;) Carry on! (And yes, the garden and pooches are all well, thanks! Many hot peppers this year! And okra!)
Did you ever notice, that, if you put these two together, it's pretty much smilie porn? What, exactly, is that second smilie trying to do to Ole Joe?

Leave it to dogzilla to find something sexual about smilies! lol
Whatever the other smilie is doing I think JS likes it.
