http://www.deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,640199915,00.html President Hinckley announced construction of the new South Valley temple in the church's October 2004 General Conference. He said the building was needed to relieve overcrowding at the Jordan River Temple, located at 10200 S. 1300 West.
Can anyone verify that the Jordan River and SLC temples are typically full to capacity? What about weekends?

I can verify for the Jordan River. That is my local temple and it's always full. I use to go at 5:00 weekday mornings and without fail there would be tons of people and long waiting times. I also went Saturday mornings, and same thing. I've never been in that temple without having to wait at least an hour before it was my/our groups turn to be confirmed/baptized.
It got to the point that the temple patrons asked the youth to attend less because it was always to crowded. It was then, that I stopped going daily.
