"There's an aspect of it that people are not willing to talk about, and I am - its religious basis. ... Our best hope is that we actually convert them away from their religious fanatical basis," Bremer said.

He said that would best be accomplished by missionaries of various faiths.

"I'd prefer that they get converted to evangelical Christianity, but my point is that there is a religious battleground and our government is disabled from fighting on that battleground," Bremer said.

I guess this guy hasn't visited Northern Ireland lately. Yeah, Christian sects never war against each other! :duh

They think the way to solve the problems in the world is to convert everyone away from their religions and make them Muslims!

If he were to get his way I'd hate be among the first wave of Christian missionaries sent to Iraq. \We probably wouldn't survive beyond the first week. Instead of tomatoes --> :duck: they'd be lobbing grenades at us.

I agree! It is not the belief in the religion that is so dangerous but the belief that everyone should be forced to believe the same religion. It is comments like his that only confirm Muslim fears that this is a war of religion not democracy or political freedoms. The GOP love to criticize people who complain about the president or the war as being unpatriotic or endangering the lives of the troops. If there ever was a comment that would contribute to the endangerment of the lives of the troops they are ones like that candidate made.
