The Church is allowing the public to beta test a new version of their website that they plan to switch over to sometime this summer. I found a place on the new site that allows users to search on gospel questions. I did a search on "tea" and found info that said that coffee and tea are the "hot drinks" the the word of wisdom speaks of.
I did a search on "polygamy" and it returned nothing! Apparently it had nothing in its extensive database of various gospel subjects and church history that used that word.
I did a search on DNA and it returned zip!
I think we need a "whitewash" emoticon.
Heres a link to their "Gospel Topics" page on the new site:

Ha! The Word of Wisdom page has not a single word about meat, while half the scripture is devoted to it.

Nothing on:
Cain
Black
African
Racism
Skin
Indian
"Curse" brings up "Forgiveness"
"Color" brings up "Love"
"Native American" brings up "Zion"
"Lamanite" brings up "Conversion", "Hope", and "Book of Mormon Textual Changes"
The "Book of Mormon Textual Changes" link brings up the following paragraph:
"The Book of Mormon was translated by the Prophet Joseph Smith through the gift and power of God. However, minor errors entered the text during the transcription and printing processes. The Prophet Joseph Smith helped prepare several subsequent editions (1837, 1840, and 1842) to correct these errors and make clarifications. These corrections were later incorporated into the current edition of the Book of Mormon."
Absolutely nothing about the most recent changes, most notably in the 80's.

:lie:It looks like the Church might think that it has a nifty new tool for bending the facts (a.k.a. presenting only faith promoting information). But I think it will backfire on them. If their members do a search on something like "blacks priesthood" and get back nothing then they'll just get frustrated and go see what Google can find. They need to pull their heads out of...ahem...the sand...and face up to reality.

Also, if this is attempting to say that the changes done to the Book of Mormon between 1842 and now were noticed, prepared and compiled by Joseph Smith himself in the 1800's, then why the hell did they wait until the 60s and 80s to "later incorporate" them into the current version? Would that not be an official admission of leading the saints astry via omission?

MoWhite - washes out even the dirtiest of stains, making even the darkest of soilings and life-stains appear as if they never occurred.
Family dirty linen? MoWash will support those with sufficient faith, in their resolute belief that they never occurred. Your family will feel encouraged to move on, in resolute defiance anything untoward ever occurred, confident that your wash is brighter than your neighbours.
You will feel so confident your linen sparkles, that you will move on to spend your time convincing others of the supreme benefits of MoWash.
Ah, the comfort that comes from knowing you haven't any streaked linen!
:lftl: , :lftl: and :lftl: again!

You got me curious, so I went right to the "Gospel Topics" index to see what kinds of topics were available.
Yeah, it's true, there is no entry for polygamy, and the article on "Priesthood" doesn't mention how it used to matter what color your skin was.
But you will all be happy to know there are entries for "Body Piercing" and "Tatooing"... ah, yes, modern day prophets addressing the burning issues of the modern day. Thank god for that.

So long as the Mormon scriptures are on that site they have material that is damaging to their cause.

They'll continue to white wash that as well (i.e. white and delight-some). The next thing you'll see modified is the introduction to the BOM where the principle ancestors to Native Americans are asserted, without question, to be Hebrew. They'll do in some devious way, such as removing the introduction all together. Then make statements like "the book needs no introduction" and was removed due to "it never really being an inspired portion of the book", without addressing the real reason to its removal. I wouldn't be surprised if Gordon was the last one we will see going around lying to Native Americans about who their ancestors are.
