I just figured it out! The purpose is not to help the poor attend the temple but to allow rich mormons to pay the church $5k+ for the priveledge of attending the temple while at sea on a luxury liner! I guess the church is branching out into vacations now! Or maybe they figure they are going to need a fleet of temples in order to get all that temple work done during the millenium!:duh
