NoMo parents of missionaries

Just wondering if any of you out there had children go on missions after you were a NoMo? How did it affect your relationship with that child? Also, am curious if your missionary child remained active after his/her return. Did they ever became NoMo as well?

My divorce in 1996 prompted me to begin to evaluate my beliefs about the church. It took me three years, but by the time my older son left on his mission in 1999 I had taken off my garments and considered myself "out".

Of course it created a gulf between us---and still does, to some extent. I helped support him financially, and will do the same for my younger son, if he decides to go. I've posted elsewhere about the great sadness I felt at not attending my son's temple wedding 2 1/2 years ago.

My son and his wife are still involved with the church, but he and I have long, deep discussions. He is constantly thinking and questioning. And we all know where that can lead! ;)
