Maybe I'm just cranky today, but this, at the end of the article just annoyed the hell out of me.....
The mainstream Mormon Church disavowed plural marriage more than 100 years ago.
Why is this statement there???
The article is about Warren Jeffs and the FLDS church. If the story had made some kind of connection to the "mainstream mormon church", that would be one thing, but here is this non-sequitor - to me seems obvious that it is a disclaimer tacked on to prevent weeping and wailing from the "mainstream" mormon church... (now there's an oxymoron if I ever heard one.)

BTW, who, other than mormons, uses that euphemistic phrase "plural marriage"?
And how does the passage of 100 years make something right anyway?

OK, I'm done.
Glad they got the b@st@rd.

I went to lunch today with a TBM who was talking about this... his comments went something like "he had like 3 or 4 sects and like 80 wives". The only reply I could think of (without totally offending him) was "Who are we talking about?"

He totally missed it... but oh well. What I would have liked to have said was "Geez... all he was missing was a good book". :duh

I notice that he was driving a 2007 red Cadillac Escalade when busted. I wonder how many of his followers are so lucky?

Fugitive Mormon leader's reign of fear ended by traffic violation

I thought that headline was rather amusing. I read that his vehicle was filled with cellphones and wigs and money. Guess he figured he could blend in with all the crowds in vegas. You would think however that with all those security cameras he would get busted. I wonder if Mister Jeffs went cruising the strip clubs for new wives?

Haven't read the rest of the thread, but Jeffs also had computers, cell phones and $50K in cash with him. Now that is living the simple life ain't it?

He might be in for a very interesting time inside.

Given his dealings with (too) young women, there might be a few inmates keen to make him their 'wife' for a night.

That would be karmic, but a rather rude shattering of the elite vision he has had of himself and his rights to mess with others. I'd predict a good chance of a brain-snap.

Yeah, I don't think he would last long in prison.

Scary! Though a perverse part of me would love to hear 'We Love You, Uncle Warren' recorded by Screeching Weasel or some other punk band.

Reminds me of this one:

Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah,
Jesus anointed that profit and seer.

ad nauseum

In prison he will be anointed repeatedly by Jesus a Hispanic gang leader who teaches him what the phrase hold to the rod really means!
