I just want to make some of you aware of a wonderful site that may be helpful now or in the future. It's called Mormon Alliance

http://www.mormonalliance.org/

From their homepage...... "The purposes of the Mormon Alliance are to identify and document ecclesiastical/spiritual abuse in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS or Mormon Church), to promote healing and closure for its survivors, to build more sensitive leadership, to empower LDS members to participate with more authenticity in Mormonism, and to foster a healthier religious community."

This site contains a lot of info and a lot of cases of abuse including sexual abuse. Cases are documented here to help provide resources to promote healing. Over my 30 years of being a member I have been aware of SEVERAL sex abuse cases that were covered up by church leaders. Disgusting. It happens. And it happens a lot.

THanks this looks interesting. One of my LDS friends was threatened with being sent home from her mission, when she confessed that her father had been sexually abusing her. (He had been a bishop). She was told that at the age of 12-18, she was equally morally responsible for his abuse of her.. This was the MP's advise but it was over-ruled by someone higher and more in tune with the difficulties of cases like this.

The level of sheer ignorance of what they are working with in sexual abuse beggars comprehension. One can't help but wonder what was going on in this MP's head! Does his confusion and frustration that the Church system is so flawed as to allow this to happen, and fail to detect it, get flooded, and then his way to restore his stability is to try to make her "go away"?

Adults who were subjected to abuse as children or youths are not infrequently susceptible to continuance of teh abuse in their adult years, because of the conditioning.

Oh, the bliss of ignorance of the real price of a lay Priesthood! There is an old expression "There are 3 groups of people in the world: 1. Those that make it happen, 2. Those that watch it happen, and 3. Those that haven't a clue what happened! Seems to me many of these men romance themselves they are in category 1, when in fact they are in category 3!

The net effect of their ignorance and ineptitude is to layer abuse upon abuse.
