Study Says Masturbation Reduces Prostate Cancer
A study done in Australia suggests that frequent masturbation by men, especially in their 20s, provides protection against prostate cancer later in life.
The scientists in Australia found that men in their 20s who ejaculated more than five times a week were a third less likely to develop aggressive prostate cancer later in life.
The reason the study suggests focuses on masturbation over sex is said to be because men can pick up infections from intercourse that actually increase the risk of getting prostate cancer.
The team asked 1,079 men with prostate cancer to log their sexual habits, which were then compared with those of 1,259 healthy men.
"The more you flush the ducts out, the less there is to hang around and damage the cells that line them", Graham Giles of The Cancer Council of Victoria in Melbourne said.
"Masturbation is part of people's sexual repertoire", said Anthony Smith, a director of the Australian Research Centre. "If these findings hold up, then it's perfectly reasonable that men should be encouraged to masturbate".
There's something you never thought you'd hear.

Puff,
According to some research I read somewhere I don't recall, I thought nuns were at high risk of cervical cancer: nuns and wild girls with multiple partners, curiously enough.
Women who have a healthy sexual life in the mid-range were the lowest risk group.

So what about people who have been snipped? Can't flush those ducts no matter how hard you try. But the little swimmers are not getting to the Prostate. I saw that they are currently testing a reversible male birth control where tiny silicon plugs are inserted into the vas deference tubes to block the sperm.

If cervical cancer has been linked to HPV and nuns are married to God does that mean God has STDs? :duh ;)

Fantastic.
Just last night I was having this conversation with a boy about masturbation and he thinks he does it way too much because he thinks it's not healthy for him. Turns out, (assuming we're both telling the truth) I do it way more than he does. (Hey, I'm in my mid-30's ;) ) Anyway, he asked me to provide proof, using credible sources, that frequent masturbation can be healthy.
Would you mind posting the citation/link to the study please? I'm going to pelt him with documentation that proves he should whack it more.

Zilla,
What I posted was exactly what I received.
Google the organisations involved and see if you get a hit.

PS: Now I'm worried! You comparing wacking notes with a teenager male and coming up trumps! Either he's not doing enough or are you doing too much!!! :slap:
PPS: OK I found it. Point him at this and he can quote scientific justification for going for it! Turns out the research was old - 2003.

He's a 40-year-old "boy," babe. ;) I'm not a bit surprised to learn I've trumped his frequency, seeing as how the male libido peaks at a different age from the female libido. Poor guy. Sure hope he can keep up.

Thanks for the linky!

That's a worry!
By 40, most have figured out that what they do with their tackle is their own business.
That said I have a brother who appears to subscribe to the depletion theory.
Interesting to see how his prostate health proceeds, as our father died of prostate cancer.

:Dwhat i have heard about this is , masturbation itself won,t hurt you , but using your imagination to much can do lots of mental damage , a certain amount of reality is recomended in every sexual diet , otherwise you might become a raging sexual psychotic

You think if you went in a 'personal worthiness' interview and said no you didn't masturbate, but that you were into duct maintenance, you would pull it off???? ;) ;)

This is a fairly old study, I remember reading about it a year or two ago.
I think it's funny how mormons link masturbation to infidelity and unhealthy sexual appetites when in reality it does the complete opposite. Trying to suppress urges only makes your body want more and sets you up for doing something stupid (like cheating on your partner).
yay for masturbation.

no , i,m saying they should have some porn in the flesh ,
I think you make a good point here. It is not looking at naked bodies that is potentially harmful. If that were the case people would get addicted to seeing their spouse naked but I don't hear any preachers or anti porn people saying that sex should be done fully clothed. I think the concern with porn and what is possibly addicting about it is that it requires no emotional investment on the part of the viewer in nuturing and cultivating a loving relationship with another human being. It is purely selfish and self satisfying. While this may be fine occasionally, if it is seen as being a valid substitute for real committed relationships I think society will suffer in the form of fewer two parent homes. Also if porn encourages selfish attitudes that could be extended toward less of a desire to care for children or the elderly. But enough speculation. I don't think porn is the root of all these things but it may be one way of facilitating selfish behaviors and stunting emotional development.

It was breast cancer prevention week here in Australia last week. One of the scary figures run out was that breast cancer is up about 80% (I think it was) since 1980.
It is believed that delayed childbirth, less children and less breastfeeding may be factors contributing to that rise.
Sounds similar to the risk in prostate cancer.
