I'm please to be able to announce today that Simon Southerton has been included as one of the columnists in the Post-Mormon Magazine! To read his first article click the Magazine Tab above and find his column in the Table of Contents.

Simon is planning to use his column primarily as a forum for responding to the ever-changing approach the Church apologists use to try to wiggle their way out of the Native American DNA issue (my choice of words not his ;) ).

Talk about the actions/logic of the desperate. They are backed into a corner, and it is so apparent that they will pluck any answer (no matter how desperate) they can to try to avoid confronting the bleeding obvious.

And for me, they are fighting this defensive action as if the DNA challenge stands alone, rather than see it on the broad range of strong assaults upon Joseph's and the BoMs credibility. Then the river turns into an ocean.

I am simply flaberghasted at the level of denial, and cognitive dissonance involved in this DNA situation.

The impramator of BYU is "The glory of God is Intelligence". If this degree of scientific evidence had been produced in any other area of discovery, or disputation, I am sure the intelligentsia at BYU would embrace it as a great find. But when it comes to cherished beliefs, all basic scientific evidence, let alone common sense, is pushed aside to accomodate the church sanctioned history. It is frankly, a bit sad. I am absolutely sure that in the recesses of the halls of BYU ,there are trained scientists who wrestle with this daily now. They have to know the jig is up. It is obvious even to someone like me, who has no scientific training!!

I read some of the answers about the Book of Abraham,
ie that the document is a forgery in the Hoffman mode, that it wasn't the document Joseph used...., and that none of the scriptures can be proved archaeologically
(ie Bible) so don't even bother trying...

I call people who won't change their opinions in the face of overwhelming evidence - flat earthers!!!!! and my very perceptive friend said to me, 'but my dear, the earth is flat in 2 dimensions' thought that was pretty funny.
