The Rev. Ted Haggard, senior pastor at New Life Church, resigned Thursday as president of the 30-million-member National Association of Evangelicals, following allegations he paid a Denver man for sex over the past three years.
It will be interesting to see if the guy can really produce the evidence. It should be noted that this is the guy that Richard Dawkins confronted and who at the end of the interview accused Dawkins of calling Haggard's children animals. Nothing against the gay community but Haggard does seem to have some of the stereotypical gay flamboyance and mannerisms about him. Could it be that his rants against gays are born out of self loathing and self hate?

Now he has admitted that he bought meth from the male escort but never used it. I don't believe a word this Haggard guy is saying.

The evangelical leader has admitted that he bought methamphetamine and received a massage from the man. But Haggard, who has been an outspoken opponent of gay marriage, denied having sex with him.
Is this like Foley blaming his scandal on being an alcoholic? Is Haggard going to claim it was the demon drugs that led him into sin?

If he can't wiggle out claiming that he only was curious about the meth but never used it, and never did the sex (best case), then yeah he will prolly blame the drugs. But for now, deny! :lftl:

I think this guy is as phony and arrogant as they come. There is an interview of him on CNN denying that he had sex with the massage guy and right after he is nodding his head up and down. If you watch the clip with Dawkins there is a moment where you see him taking a glance at Dawkin's package. This guy is so full of sh*t. It will be great to see him fall! I bet Dawkins is loving all of this. If only Ted accepted the scientific research rather than ancient mythology as his source of truth perhaps he would not be in this situation.

Totally beside the point, but what is the deal with Pastor Ted's lips? They are constantly puckered, and never come together. It is so distracting I can't even process the BS coming out of his mouth.

I know!!! That totally weirds me out about him as well. Perhaps they are trying to get away from all the lies they keep telling.:D It really gives his face a pinched and sour look.

"Most pastors I know do not have satisfying, free, sexual conversations and liberties with their wives. At the risk of being even more widely despised than I currently am, I will lean over the plate and take one for the team on this. It is not uncommon to meet pastors' wives who really let themselves go; they sometimes feel that because their husband is a pastor, he is therefore trapped into fidelity, which gives them cause for laziness. A wife who lets herself go and is not sexually available to her husband in the ways that the Song of Songs is so frank about is not responsible for her husband's sin, but she may not be helping him either."
So now his homosexuality is being blamed on his wife?:duh

I've never heard of a man "changing teams" because his wife "let herself go."
More typically a man is gay because he likes men ... :duh

Let's just say that I was speculating on what the good reverend might have been doing too much of, that would cause he lips to be stuck in that permanent pucker.

You don't get to where he is without kissing a lot of ass!:duh
I would love to have seen Dawkins reaction to these revelations.

I can't help but wonder, looking back at the arrogance of the attack upon Dawkins, how much of the aggression expressed outwards, was based in self-loathing at his personal lack of integrity.
Reading all the press releases, by him, his wife and the Church, I doubt this guy is going to find any peace in the near future. If he is gay or bisexual, as his behaviour would suggest, then hoping for God to forgive him and change his heart is going to be a long and fraught process, with frequent reoffences.
Oh the problems we face when we insist on getting truth to align with our beliefs, rather than the alternative.
