You know what I really enjoy these days? Freedom from religious holiday pressure.
I know longer feel guilty if we have F U N on a religious holiday.
I like to call them "family" holidays.
I am looking forward to Easter. I get to spend time with my family. If weather permits we will go play baseball. Then we will BBQ.
I will be filled with gratitude and love that I can spend that day with my family. And I will be much more fulfilled than reading any scriptures, attending any religious service, saying any prayers, forcing kids to know the Easter story, etc. Best of all I will be G U I L T F R E E!
I know this very important family time is not frowned upon by most religions like it is with the Mormon church. I hope our Christian members do not take offense. This thread is directed at the Mormon church only.

What, you won't miss the sado-masochistic story that lies at the heart of Christianity, and the great fantasy that you can project your human foibles and failings onto Big Brother to plead for your sad arse with Dad? Dad in turn will be perfectly comfortable with seeing eldest Bro get all beat up to facilitate this process.
I am going back to reread the Easter story and look for all the inconsistencies between the Gospels in this "Perfect Word of God".
On a lighter note, the weather might be warm enough to get a few more swims in.
Daryl
PS: I regret it if any active Christians find my remarks offensive. I find movies like Mel Gibson's Passion of Christ pornographic in the extreme.

in my early post-mo days, every sunday felt like a holiday. no ph meeting, no sunday school, no sacrament meeting. it was like a day of..... rest. what a concept.

I ESPECIALLY don't miss the glove and the hand demonstration that someone almost ALWAYS seems to mention on Easter.

I lost all respect for Mel Gibson when I heard him interviewed about The Passion of Christ. His comments about his religion, his wife and her religion (not Catholic), Jews, etc., offended me. I refused to see the movie. My MIL told me that I "needed" to see it to understand what Christ went through. Say WHAT?

:D It's an old demonstration regarding the resurrection. The glove represents the spirit, the hand the body. Or is it the other way around? Could be the other way around. The hand is the spirit, yeah I think that's it and the glove is the body.
I've heard it in countless Primary classes, family home evenings, etc.

One slight glitch in this metaphore appears to have been overlooked.
The hand (spirit) enters the glove (body) via a hole at the bottom!
