Silverfox,
Boy did that story get me going.
All these happy little seige-mentality Mormons want to dress up and make a pilgrimage to a site they see for Mormon Martyrs, fuelling their us/them paradigm.
"Martin's Cove is an integral part of this nation's treasured pioneer story, and should be accessible and appreciated by all," Larsen said. "Without the church's willingness to make this remote area accessible to visitors and tell the story of those who died there, it would still be isolated and unappreciated."
Many more people died violently at Mountain Meadows, massacred after duplicity and skull-duggery by fearful, hateful, self-justified people, who deliberately left the human remains exposed to nature and scavengers. Later they quickly reburied remains and avoided a careful forensic analysis to determine what happened.
By comparison these Mormons died as a result of poor judgement/bad luck in following their freely chosen beliefs.
Normally I would be prone to let people grieve their dead unopposed, but the absolute hyprocricy in this really pisses me off. OK I choose to really feel pissed off observing ............
