View Full Version : TBM Family Sizes Dwindling?

I live in a young community. We have quite a few young TBM families. On average they have about 4 kids.
It appears, however, that the majority of these young TBM families are not popping out the babies like we did in the 70s and early 80s.
It appears most families are spacing their children farther apart and having only two or three rather than 5-8.
We've come a long way, baby????

Actually, I think birth control has come a long way!
I recall (I was TBM in the mid-80s) babysitting for only one family who had six kids. (And were so broke, they paid exactly $1 per hour for all six kids. Sit for them for five hours and give a whopping $5. Wasn't even worth charging them -- I just did it for free after a while. I believe it was six boys too. I don't think they ever managed a girl out of that mess). Most of the families I knew at the time had 5 kids or less. Only one or two had more than that and they were from.... (drum roll please) Utah or Idaho. I think the further away you get from the central hivemind of the morg, the fewer children you feel compelled to birth.
Idaho? Who you callin' a ho? (That must be one of the oldest in the book!)

I personally know of many TBM families in this area with at least 5 children... some even with 11 or 12. :Puking
I don't think the church is pushing it quite as hard as they used to... must have just enough tithing coming in to pay all the bills... :duh ($5 billion a year is the last number I saw).
A friend of mine started talking about how much money the church donates to other charitable organizations... he sent me the link about recent donation of $3 million dollars... so I did some quick math for him and replied "that would be the same as you donating $36 to that charity". He wasn't too impressed with my reply. :D
