Bikini Cuts is a hair salon in which the employees wear bikinis with a wrap around the waist. The owner would like to open a couple more shops - another one in Provo and one in Orem.

We have some therapists and counselors on board here. Please explain your take on the following - I don't see where the threat is. It's a BATHING SUIT for hell's sake. It's not sexual until the grownups make it that way. But I'm not an expert.

This from the article:

"Miki Grant, a Provo marriage and family therapist, said the salon poses a risk of putting sexual thoughts in the minds of children at a young age"

Hey, I wonder if they have any half naked studs, um, I mean men there? I think I need a haircut, too, and a deep conditioning, maybe a color job. Hmmmmmmmm

Now what a unique and wonderful business idea this guy came up with, huh?

You know those girls aren't wearing anything you don't see out in public. They are required to wear a wrap around the hips.

Well I guess the children shouldn't attend public swimming pools anymore, they better never look at any magazine out these days (because we all know what kind of ads those are filled with-here in Logan they even insist on covering the front of them in the checkstands). And oh yeah, they better not watch Miss Utah on TV during her swimsuit issue, especially since she is attending BYU-what kind of an example is that for the children!!!!

Coming from someone who lives in Spring Break Central: Now what kind of moron would try to make that kind of business work in freaking Utah?

:duh

Any idea how much MORE money one could make with a business like that in Florida, where it's too hot to wear more than a bikini MOST of the time? In Ft. Lauderdale, we had a hot dog place where all the servers wore bikinis and roller skated out to your car with your food. (Even the male waiters! No, I'm just kidding)

Won't someone please think of the children?

I lived in West Palm Beach years ago for awhile. I lived in my bikini. I wasn't a member then THANK GAWD. But it was very natural and acceptable. We lived near the ocean and there was no reason to wear clothes. When kids are accustomed to it, it's just everyday life. When people make a big deal about it is when it becomes naughty or questionable to them.

I was in a dept store the other day with my 10 yo daughter. We were looking at tops. A woman and her daugther were also there. The girl held up the same shirt we were looking at and said mom, how 'bout this one? Look how pretty it is! (it wasn't really sleeveless, it had little cap sleeves on it, it was way cute) the mom proclaimed it was too immodest. WHAT? I looked at my daugther and said THIS is NOT immodest. (I hate that she is in this culture so deeply-argh) AND it is NOT pornograpic!!! I know the lady and her daughter heard me and I am sure it made for a wonderful bonding topic for the ride home instead of talking about other more valuable bonding topics.

Good ol' Utard.

Exactly. Even in North Florida, a spaghetti-strap tank top and a pair of short shorts is standard-issue Floridian uniform. Not considered immodest at all. You rarely see anyone all covered up, except for Mormon missionaries (Sweating their poor kahunas off in a shirt and tie on a bicycle in 95 degree heat with 80 percent humidity. Poor fools.)

I used to live in Daisy Dukes and t-shirts or tank tops. I'm older and have "outgrown" the short shorts, but hey. It's too hot down here for modesty. It's all the filthy christian and mormon perverts who can't handle a little shoulder or bare midriff. :Puking

With all the publicity I understand it's difficult to get an appointment. I think I will call today and see how long of a wait it is to get an appointment.

I also read months ago when the controversy first started that missionaries were banned from going there. I guess they were going there for their mishie haircuts. *snicker* Smart guys!

I remember when I was a kid and cable TV was the big issue. The mormon community wanted to keep it from comming to Utah; they just could not see that not subscribing, or turning off the TV as an option.
I see this entirely the same, if you don't like it don't go there for your haircuts. Plain and simple as that.
I believe however that the mormon people are all about controlling everyone! It will be interesting to watch this play out.

I like how, when you post a quoted forehead slapping smiley, he's frozen in the quote, mid-slap.

Hi Silverfox,

I'm back after a few days in Sydney with an adult son with mumps that turned into viral meningitis, then looked like he may have got a staph infection.

Good to see stupidity never goes away, when I get back on the net.

I see hairdressers wearing swimmers is poor form simply because the hair dressers would get hair clippings down their cozzies! IIIIIItchy :( Personally, I can think of few things less sexy that hair clipping covered breasts!!! Guess I like my hairy chests on guys!

So making the inappropriateness of the swimmers into a sexual issue is a complete Furphy (Oz slang for a misleading story), and just so typically MoUtard. Just more sexual obsession symptomatic that they have never dealt properly with the Smith and polygamy.

Now, if the store wanted traffic in Utah, they should have just put a big sign outside that they had a special on Brazillians! That would have got the word of mouth marketing into top gear.
