Hey everyone!

One of our very own (P. Allen ... shhhh! Don't tell anyone ;) ) has been called to duty as the Managing Editor for the all new light humor section of the Post-Mormon Online Magazine. He needs to remain somewhat anonymous, as many of use understand, but you can thank him by posting your comments at the bottom of the articles, and by posting them here.

As our newest staff member he has done a remarkable job with writing articles for the first edition and is looking for submissions for the next round of humor. So, if you feel you have a knack for creating good quality satire, please read the submissions notice on the Front Page of the Peep Stone (http://www.post-mormons.com/exp_e/index.php/peepstone) and send any submissions to pseditor@postmormon.com (mailto:pseditor@postmormon.com)

Below is a copy of a press release sent out this morning about our community's brand new baby! Cigars anyone?

Happy New Year! :D
Jeff

Press Release: The Post-Mormon Online Magazine Exposes Its Lighter Side

Beginning January 2, 2005, the on-line magazine at PostMormon.com will include a new feature entitled, "The Peep Stone! Light Post-Mormon Satire." Intended to be a humorous look at the culture we loved and left, Peep Stone hopes to become both entertaining and interactive, giving readers an opportunity to submit their best humor for publication (subject to certain rules and guidelines). It is our goal to provide fresh, sometimes edgy, sometimes annoying, but always funny material touching on current and past events peculiar to the peculiar people of Utah and beyond, including those of us here in the Post-Mormon Community.

Additionally, readers will have the chance to comment on each article, and generally they can expect at least a response from the editor (which may be as smart-alecky as the article itself) and just as likely a response from the author.

Above all, Post-Mormon.com strives to facilitate the healing process for people just leaving the Church, as well as those who left long ago, and the ability to laugh at ourselves both then and now is a powerful healing agent. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have!

Be sure and check in often, as material in The Peep Stone! will change over regularly, as will all the articles in all the columns of the magazine. Old Peep Stone! articles will be archived and available for, well, for a heck of a long time, we hope!

Check out the latest edition of The Peep Stone! at this link:

Then forward this press release to all of your friends!

Enjoy!

YES! Every Community Member a Missionary, I say! Spread the good news! The field is white, all ready to harvest! Thrust in your sickle and reap the bountiful harvets! Forward, ever forward the press release! Ask not what the Peep Stone can do for you, but what you can do for the Peep Stone!

Okay, sorry about that. My inner missionary burst out there for a moment. Yes, by all means, please forward the Peep Stone.

Would it be difficult to get a listserv or email list when the page is updated. I'm sure I'm not the only one who enjoys the email each time a new version of the Onion goes online, and this is funnier.

What I'm planning to do is send out a newsletter each time there's an updated edition. We'll eventually have things set up so registered site users can opt in or out of the email list. Right now everyone is supposed to get them.

Is there anyone who didn't get the emailed press release yesterday? Please let me know if that’s the case. I sent out a bulk email to everyone (we now have over 100 people registered by the way) but something appeared to have timed out, I think before it got all the way through the mailing, but I need to know for sure so I know whether to try again.

Thanks!
Jeff

The Sugar Beet appears to be no more and I was needing some quality LDS satire. Thank you for stepping up and bringing some great opening articles!

It's too early to bury the Sugar Beet just yet, but it IS struggling, darn it! Not for lack of talent...they have a ton, but they don't have the same kind of webmeister talent we have at Post Mormon! ;) They have two more paper editions that they are obligated to produce, and then I guess we'll see if they resurface on the web or not. Regardless, the Peep Stone will make every effort to offend just as many people as the Sugar Beet!
