View Full Version : Church Monitors?

I'm in a silly mood.

Do you think the church has "monitors" who are "called" to go on line and view all the mo' boards to see what's up? I've often wondered about this. Or do you think they are too afraid that the "monitor" might become to enlightened and grow a brain for themselves? You know the growth of one brain costs the church money - 10% of that person's wages. That adds up. Do you think they take the chance?

And if there are church monitors peeking in what would you like to say to them, if anything? Or how about a message for them to take back to ol' Gordie?

I would say to any Mormon watchers of this site the following:

I challenge you to really investigate the history and claims of Mormonism beyond the burning in the bosom.
I'm not even suggesting you should look at anti-mormon literature. Unless of course you consider the Journal of Discourses by Brigham Young anti-mormon.

For those willing to look at sources other than what is church approved, if Mormonism is true it should hold up under any amount of scrutiny. Oh, I know you've been advised against that but what do have to be afraid of if your church is really true? Won't it only strengthen your faith to learn about the arguments against your faith so you'll be able to refute them?

The little ol' thing I'd want to ask is simply, "Is it "honest in all your dealings to sneak around, unregistered, taking notes in somebody else's 'house'? Gimme back that temple recommend!" ;)

I have oftened wondered...Maybe it is just a coincidence, but each time I have joined a web-based group (3 times now) that discusses the "other" side of Mormonism (to put it nicely  ), I have been called in to "visit" with my Bishop within a couple of weeks. I used to think it was because I was (relatively) high profile...working for CES. But, since I resigned last year... (Hallelujah, I don't have to worry about getting a parking ticket when I have ONE TIRE on the line...so symbolic, really!)...I thought that maybe those darn "spies" would leave me alone. But...lo & behold, I joined this web-group about 2 weeks ago, and I was just "summoned" last week.

Only this time, I told the Executive Secretary, "If the Bishop wants to speak to me, he may call me directly...I have nothing further to discuss with him, personally".)

It makes me CRAZY that the Bishop has this Exec Sec schedule everything & then he expects (the ward member: me) to just drop everything, make a special trip back to the ward building, almost by virtue of some moral obligation..all to have the privilege of speaking to him for a few minutes. Nope. Not gonna do it.

So far, no direct calls from the Bishop. I guess it's His way or the Highway (if I am lucky!!!!) :p

You might want to insist that the bishop meet with you in your home if he wants to talk. Get him out from behind is power desk. ;)

Yup, there comes a time when you take back the authority, and require that they come to you as a concerned neighbor and "friend," rather than some guy lording his authority over you. Invite him over for tea, but man, I'd never go back to his office. He's "God" there, but he's a guest in your home!

I've always said if it weren't for Adam and Eve (whether they existed or not) we'd ALL be nekkid right now.

Hey, can you turn a little to the left, please?

Seriously, church monitors, or TBMs or whomever....I'd really like to see you spending your valuable time with your kids and families who need you and love you and want you much more than we ever will. Who are more important than spending time on a stupid computer spying on Post Mo's. Heed my voice, get out the scriptures, the Monopoly game, the ice cream, and go giggle and bond with your family.

No, wait, PLEASE waste your time here on us. Maybe you will learn something. Your family will be fine without you..... :)
