The claim that Mormonism is the fastest-growing faith in the world has been repeated so routinely by sociologists, anthropologists, journalists and proud Latter-day Saints as to be perceived as unassailable fact.
The trouble is, it isn't true.
Today, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has more than 12 million members on its rolls, more than doubling its numbers in the past quarter-century. But since 1990, other faiths - Seventh-day Adventists, Assemblies of God and Pentecostal groups - have grown much faster and in more places around the globe. :duh

" The LDS message has found a ready audience in Latin America and the South Pacific, where Mormon missionaries can tell people God did not neglect them. The Book of Mormon is the story of a Hebrew family that migrated from Jerusalem to the New World and tells of a visit to their descendants by Jesus Christ after his resurrection.

Still, the church may not fare as well as other Christian religions in Africa and China, since it has no such reassurance for them, he says. "

I found the above very interesting in this article.

It raises the possibility that as the DNA research findings permeate those cultures, the toe hold Mormonism leveraged off will evaporate.

This was an interesting USP (Unique Selling Porposition - to use marketing parlance), which is at risk of evaporation in the face of science. Further, I see the risk that people who were schmucked by Mormonism's lie, could become very cynical and critical of the Church.

It would not surprise me to hear that other 'Christian' organisations used this tactically in competition with the Church once it becomes more widely known.

Keep in mind that these other churches that are kicking the cults' ass do NOT have in excess of 50,000 FULL TIME missionaries out in the field either. If you took the missionaries out of the picture, the cults' already dismal convert numbers would PLUMET.

Ha ha...now the world knows what we've known all along: Mormonism sucks!

Nort, please post more often. I think you posted a couple of times over at FAIR. (under the same name).
????
Good point about missionaries.

I am reading a couple of threads over at FAIR about polygamy. The usual stuff. Nobody told us versus, you big ignorant wheezes where have you been all this time, it's obvious (specifically to JS's plural wives).

As once a missionary I can testify truthfully that I DIDNT teach all there is to know about the church (milk/meat mentality) and much of it I DIDNT know myself.

I wonder though, how much information SHOULD the missionaries ETHICALLY give the investigators so that they can make an informed decision about joining the church????

All of it?

I mean. . . ethics being a malleable substance, conditioned upon personal belief, the way in which a person was raised. . . my ethics demand that if someone asks me about one of my products. . . I tell them everything.

Even if it means that I don't get a sale, I still demand 100% honesty from myself.

For example: I have a really bad tooth right now that needs a root canal just to determine if the tooth can be saved. I went to the dentist last night and we discussed trade work (From my website design/hosting company. . . for those of you who don't know, I run a few more businesses than just Art of Desecration).

This dentist showed me what it would cost to completely fix my tooth ($1,711.00 US) and asked how much is the website worth. I asked him a few questions about what he was wanting it to contain. . . and gave him the figure of $350-450 US.

He looked at me and asked, "Why so low?"

My response? "Because I run my business ethically."

He then went on to explain that the last time someone talked to him about trade work it would end up costing the Dentist $500 above the cost of the procedure.

Brutal honesty in all things with a dash of tact. It is the only recipe for success, in my book at least.
