Yesterday (Tuesday 23rd) Philip Adams on Australian Broadcasting Commission's Radio National - Late Night Live covered:

Jehovah's Witnesses and The Third Reich

Summary
For over 60 years, the leadership of the Jehovah's Witness movement across the globe has steadfastly argued that Witnesses were united in their opposition to Nazism. And while it’s undeniably true that many Jehovah’s Witnesses were taken to the concentration camps and persecuted by the Nazi regime - along with Jews, Gypsies and homosexuals - this may not be the whole story.

Guest on this program: James Penton - Professor emeritus in the Department of History at the University of Lethbridge

This is an interesting brief interview that touches on the JWs in the war years, but also on the Millenarian focus of the JWs (and their low success rate at predicting Christs return), and their foundations which were in Adventism in the 1820(!), which I never knew. It starts at about the 30 minutes mark in the program.

Well worth a listen. Avail on line for WM or RA or downloadable for MP3 or Podcast.

damn. And I missed it. A couple of good stories they had there, except I missed them. Like the one about Cherynoble.

Cactus Jack,

I think the Chernobyl story is in the first half hour of that same segment. (Runs off to check) Yes, that is a goer! So it is there, and will be for a few days.

Don't go into the text on that days story. On the page I gave you can listen or download the files.
