SACRAMENTO (AP) - There were loud cheers from the Assembly gallery tonight when a bill allowing same-sex marriages was approved yesterday.

But the celebration could be brief.

A spokeswoman for Governor Schwarzenegger stopped short of saying he would veto it, but she said he believes the issue should be decided by the courts, not by his signature on legislation.

What is it with these republicans? If the courts are saying gay marriage is acceptable then they call them "activist judges" and that it should be settled by elected officials, then if the elected officials say it is ok they say it should be decided in the courts!?? :duh

In other words, he can't support it because it would cause a rift with his supporters, yet he personally wants to sign it, so he is willing to hide behind a court decison.

Ahh, politics....

I have a solution to this whole muddled affair, but I won't give it for free as I want the governator to pay me for my great ideas!
